چکیده
Background. The extracellular matrix of the PNS/CNS is unusual in that it dominated by glycosaminoglycans, especially hyaluronan, whose space filling and hydrating properties make essential contributions to functional this tissue. Hyaluronan has a relatively simple structure but its space-filling ensure micro-compartments are maintained brain ultrastructure, ensuring ionic niches gradients for optimal cellular function. cell-instructive, anti-inflammatory forms macro-molecular aggregates with lectican CS-proteoglycans, forming dense protective perineuronal net structures provide neural synaptic plasticity support cognitive learning. Aims. To highlight central nervous system/peripheral system (CNS/PNS) diverse cell-associated proteoglycans have cell-instructive regulating repair processes recovery through interactions cell adhesive molecules, receptors neuroregulatory proteins. Despite general lack stabilising fibrillar collagenous elastic CNS/PNS, sophisticated dynamic nevertheless important tissue form Conclusions. This review provides examples sophistication CNS/PNS matrix, showing how maintains homeostasis regulates regeneration.

متن کاملExtracellular matrix molecules and their receptors: functions in neural development.
The development of neurons and virtually all other cell types in the organism depends upon interactions with molecules in their environment. Studies of individual cell types have revealed tremendous diversity in the molecules that regulate the development of cells in the nervous system. These include chemotropic and trophic factors [e.g. nerve growth-factor (NGF) and brain derived neurotrophic ...
متن کاملThe extracellular matrix provides directional cues for neuronal migration during cerebellar development.
Normal central nervous system development relies on accurate intrinsic cellular programs as well as on extrinsic informative cues provided by extracellular molecules. Migration of neuronal progenitors from defined proliferative zones to their final location is a key event during embryonic and postnatal development. Extracellular matrix components play important roles in these processes, and int...
